Garden improvements begin

One of the objectives of the Friends of Hampton Wick Library is to improve the environment around the Library and in particular the gardens.

On Sunday 9th October a small team of volunteers made a start by tackling the side bed by the entrance to the Library. Weeds and litter were removed as well as a very old rose that had seen better days. In its place we have created a ‘gravel garden’ with drought resistant plants that are wildlife friendly and should provide colour throughout the year. Funds meant that we had to use quite small plants but they should grow quite quickly to fill the space.

Plants include: santolina, lavender, golden thyme and gentians.

There’s a lot more work to do on the other beds and the back garden so please do get in touch if you’d like to help.

History Talk & Reception at the Library

Wednesday 16th November from 6pm

The Friends of Hampton Wick Library are delighted to welcome local historian Alison Merrington who will be giving a talk based on her researches into Hampton Wick and its residents during World War 1.

Alison will be giving an illustrated talk in Bullen Hall, starting at 7pm.

From 6pm everyone is invited to join us for a drinks reception in the Library where we hope to have a display of WW1 related books. Drinks and light refreshments will be served.

Talk and reception: £3
